TiE’s Partnership with Enterprise Singapore
2020

With 38,000+ startups and 26 unicorns, TiE Singapore hosted a virtual India Immersive Program from November 23 to December 4, 2019. India ended 2019 as the world’s third largest start-up ecosystem. COVID-19 created a significant barrier for Indian start-ups, but founders showed remarkable perseverance, and signs of recovery are now visible. Positive Key Indicators and Investor Sentiment suggest that by 2025, we will have 60K+ startups and a unicorn pool of 100. Week 1 of the programme focused on Educating while week 2 was focused on Connecting, with 1-on-1 pitch coaching sessions with Peter Browne and 1-on-1 mentoring sessions with various established mentors.

"Startups survive because of the ecosystem, so ask for help and help each other" - Srinath, in one of the webinars. I have connected with a number of VCs, entrepreneurs and experts in no time. One common characteristic of all the people we met was that they were so open to helping others. As a team we gained a lot of collective knowledge and experience. Time to spend the 100K Google cloud credits now !

“I am relatively new within the startup environment but this program has equipped me with the necessary insights and knowledge to understand the landscape. Though I may not be a startup founder, the training provided has also given me the skills required to navigate through pitches and presentation, even outside the Indian context.”

“The SG-INDIA immersion program has been very beneficial in helping me connect with many mentors and like minded entrepreneurs. The wide reach of the program also helped expose start ups to different economic, social and cultural norms which could only be understood via a first hand connection with someone on the ground. I am thankful for such an opportunity and would definitely look forward to joining another if the chance arise in future.”

“Thanks a lot TiE & ESG team for arranging a session with VC’s as it is very critical for us at this stage to understand their viewpoint on our pitch and if we are pitching in the right manner. This kind of a session really helps us when we are raising capital and will be facing tough questions from some of the most seasoned investors.”

The TiE GoGlobal Program was started in 2016 by the TiE Singapore chapter. The objective of the mission was to showcase growth stage companies from Singapore, to help them understand the complexities of India as a market. This Summit, in partnership with the leading agencies of the Government of India, 20+ TiE chapters from India, USA, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and Dubai, and global venture capital funds. Any Singapore-based startup with a working product or solution, whose target market included India was eligible to apply.
Before the trip to Mumbai, the selected startups went through a series of training and mentoring sessions. The TGS II Expo provided our delegates with the booth space to showcase their products and technology. The 2018 Expo featured startups, universities, and technology corporations showcasing their products and services to the attendees.
The Expo offered an excellent opportunity to expand the reach of the delegates’ products to a wide range of audience including investors, buyers, potential partners and media.
